Welcome to the Autumn Edition of Tax Tactics

2013 has already started in a busy way here at Stature Accounting and we are about to launch into our tax planning period in preparation for the end of financial year.

As an accountant, this is part of the year that is really satisfying as it's a great opportunity to work with you to plan ahead, making your hard earned dollars work harder for you instead of the other way around. As appointments are filling fast for clients to come in and speak to the accounting team, if you haven't done so already please call and make an appointment today. You can do this by contacting 02 8256 2100 or go to our website at www.staturearw.com.au and click on ‘Get an appointment’

It will be disappointing for everyone involved if you miss out on an opportunity to minimise your tax payment/maximise your refund and have to wait a whole 12 months for the opportunity to come around again!

In line with planning ahead and making sure you have the right strategies and structures in place before the 30 June, this edition of Tax Tactics includes articles such as:

  • Running a SMSF
  • Minimising and eliminating Capital Gains Tax in SMSFs
  • When it seems too good to be true - traps for SMSF trustees
  • Boost retirement savings
  • Insuring the most important risk in small business

If you would like further information on any of the topics highlighted in this issue of Tax Tactics and how they relate to your individual circumstances, please give Stature Accounting a call or make an appointment for a confidential conversation. That's what we are here for.

Finally, if there are any specific issues and topics you would like to read more about in Tax Tactics, please drop me a line at info@staturearw.com.au.

The team and I look forward to seeing you soon - As it’s always our pleasure to help.

Regards,

Jon McArthur - Principal & Charered Accountant Jon McArthur - Stature ARW Accounting

Minimising and eliminating Capital Gains Tax in SMSFs

by Jon McArthur

When you dispose of an asset and make a capital gain, you may be liable for extra tax. There is no separate tax rate for capital gains.  Instead, some or all of the capital gain is added to your assessable income and taxed along with your other income at your marginal tax rate.
